Competition Details

All pool play will take place on Saturday, September 10th. Pool play times are provided below to assist with scheduling and may change. Molten volleyballs will be used in this tournament. All current NAGVA rules will be in effect. All uniforms must have numbers clearly visible on the front and back, with liberos wearing a uniform colored in contrast to the rest of the team. NAGVA follows USAV rules regarding jewelry – only a flat wedding band is allowed while on the court. – this WILL be enforced both days.

Match Format

All pool play matches are 40 minutes long, which includes a 5-minute warm up period. Teams will play four matches consisting of two 21-point [4-25] rally games per match, with a 27-point cap.

All pool play matches will be timed by a central clock. All matches will begin and end at the same time. Teams will be signaled at the beginning and end of each match. The clock will not stop between the first and second game. A three-minute warning will be given toward the end of each match. After this warning, no time-outs may be taken; however, substitutions will be allowed. If play is in progress when the end-of-match signal is given, the point will be played until the ball is dead. The game may NOT end in a tie; if the score is tied at the time end-of-match is announced, one final point MUST be played.

Forfeits

Forfeits will be strictly enforced according to NAGVA / USA Volleyball rules (e.g., if a playing team is not ready when a match is scheduled to begin). If the assigned working team is not present and ready to start a match, they will forfeit the first game of their next match, inclusive of Double Elimination rounds. The USA Volleyball / NAGVA 12 / UNLIMITED substitution rule will be in effect. NAGVA does not allow Ghost players for teams unable to put 6 players on the court - this will result in a forfeit.

Officiating Responsibilities and Fees

Please be sure you have at least one certified R1 (up-ref) and one certified scorekeeper. Teams will be charged the following fees if they do not meet this requirement:

•$30 for a certified R1 (per match)

•$30 for a certified scorekeeper (per match).

•These fees will also be in effect for any elimination rounds your team is asked to officiate, when you cannot supply a certified R1 (up-ref) to work as the R2 (down-ref), and/or a certified scorekeeper.

Seedings

Seedings will be determined for Double Elimination based on pool play results. Teams will be ranked in each division according to win / loss records. Ties are broken by point differential, as required by NAGVA rules.

Sunday Tournament Schedule: 2X Elimination

Winner’s Bracket

All Winner’s Bracket matches (including championship matches) are best two-out-of-three games, no time limit (win by 2-points / no cap). The first two games are 25-point rally games, and, if a third game is needed, a 15-point rally game will be played. If, after a championship match, both teams have lost one match, one 25-point final rally game will be played with no time limit and no cap to decide the championship.

Loser’s Bracket

All Loser’s Bracket matches are one 25-point rally game (win by 2-points / no cap).

All decisions by referees are final. Any protest must be registered with the On-Site Tournament Director immediately following the completion of the match involved. Any delay will forfeit the protest.

The On-Site Tournament Director reserves the right to reschedule matches to other courts in order to keep the tournament on schedule. In the event of such changes, teams will be given as much advance notice as possible.
